Summer Coffee Recipes

I love summertime. More everything: sun, excuses to play outside, long days, and iced drinks!

We love ourselves some iced coffee, and we wanted to share with you some of our favorite new drinks featuring Civic Roasters!

EASY ICED AEROPRESS

  1. Grind medium or dark roast Civic Roasters beans to a texture similar to sand, and add 18g to aeropress.

  2. Pour 30g hot water (30s off boil) into aeropress, just enough to saturate the grounds. Let bloom for 30s. Add 108g more of hot water into aeropress. Wait 2 min.

  3. Plunge into a glass filled with ice.

  4. Top with milk, and/or sweetener.

DIRTY HORCHATA

  1. Soak 2 cups uncooked long-grain white rice in 2.5 cups of water, covered, in a large container for at least 8 hours.

  2. Blend for about 2 minutes. This adds just a little bit of grit. Mix in 1 tablespoon each of cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweeten to taste with honey or sugar.

  3. Strain mixture with cheesecloth or a fine mesh sieve.

  4. Pour into glasses, filling about halfway. Whisk in equal part milk (from cow, oat, almond, choose your fave). Top with ice and a shot of cold brew on top.

VIETNAMESE ICED COFFEE

  1. Grind 18g dark roast beans and add to a french press.

  2. Measure out 5.5 fl oz of hot water, pour a splash into the french press and wait 30s. Then add the rest of the water and stir. Wait 4 min, then plunge.

  3. Add 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk into a glass, and pour coffee into glass.

  4. Fill glass with ice, and serve with a long spoon.
